In the early hours of Wednesday morning (17), the Military Highway Police seized around BRL 30,000 worth of goods smuggled from Paraguay during a raid on the SC-480 highway in Chapecó, in western Santa Catarina.
The incident took place at around 5 a.m., after the garrison received anonymous information about a Ford Focus vehicle, with license plates from Vacaria (RS), which was traveling on the highway with illicit goods.
Upon approaching the car, the PMRv identified the driver, a 37-year-old woman, who said she was transporting products from Paraguay. When they checked the trunk of the vehicle, the police found 19 cell phones, two video games and 36 units of other electronic objects, totaling BRL 30,000 in undocumented products.
All the smuggled goods were seized and sent to the Federal Revenue Service in Chapecó. The driver will be charged with embezzlement.
