Tax Analysts Work to Seize Illegal Goods in Paraná

A Federal Revenue inspection on BR-277 uncovered a shipment of wine, electronics, and perfumes being transported without tax documentation
Tax analysts from the Federal Revenue Service seized approximately R$ 800,000 worth of goods without tax documentation. The goods were found on an unlicensed tour bus last Saturday (18) during a routine inspection conducted at the Federal Highway Police (PRF) checkpoint on BR-277 in Santa Terezinha de Itaipu (PR).
The vehicle was traveling from Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná, to São Paulo, São Paulo, carrying only 10 passengers. During the inspection, officials found that the untaxed goods occupied not only the luggage compartments but also the space intended for passenger seats.
Among the seized goods were wines, electronics, and perfumes. After being inventoried, all the items were sent to the Federal Revenue Service warehouse for the appropriate administrative procedures.
The passengers and the bus drivers were identified and released; no arrests were made at the time of the stop. The Federal Revenue Service stated that it will file a criminal complaint with the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will assess whether those involved should be held accountable for the crimes of smuggling and contraband.
