A man who owned a company that sold fake products of dubious origin was arrested in Curitiba on Monday (23). The operation took place in the Boqueirão neighborhood of Curitiba and brought together the Paraná Civil Police and the Federal Revenue Service.

The operation began after a complaint from international brands. According to the complaint, the company was selling counterfeit clothing products of dubious origin on a large scale.

The company was selling counterfeit products in a physical store and on digital channels.

During the operation, the authorities seized a large quantity of counterfeit clothing and watches, as well as voluminous items of clothing that had originated from “descaminho” - merchandise that comes from abroad without proper tax collection.

The owner of the company was arrested red-handed for the crime of qualified receipt and acquiring something he knows to be the product of a crime. Counterfeiting and selling products without the proper authenticity are crimes against industrial property.

“The operation reinforces the Brazilian authorities' commitment to protecting the legal market, combating unfair competition and safeguarding intellectual property rights,” says PCPR deputy Hormínio Lima.
