A task force involving the Mato Grosso do Sul Civil Police, the Federal Revenue Service, the Department of Border Operations (DOF), and the Federal Highway Police (PRF) resulted in the seizure of more than R$ 26 million in goods and vehicles used by criminals. Operation Fronteira MS was carried out between July 6 and 10 on highways in the border region covering the municipalities of Dourados, Mundo Novo, and Ponta Porã.

Coordinated by the Specialized Border Crime Repression Police Station (Defron) and the General Investigations Section (SIG) of Dourados, the operation focused on combating cigarette and electronics smuggling, drug and arms trafficking, environmental crimes, and other cross-border crimes. The operation involved 72 agents and the assistance of two Federal Revenue Service sniffer dogs.

During the five days of the operation, goods valued at approximately R$ 24.5 million were seized, in addition to 44 vehicles used by the gangs for illegal transportation — 39 passenger cars, three vans, and two trucks. The vehicles are valued at R$ 1.7 million.

Among the main items seized were 225,000 packs of contraband cigarettes, with an estimated value of R$ 1.4 million. The products were transported in adapted cars, in which the seats were removed to increase cargo capacity. Electronic cigarettes, perfumes, cell phones, toys, tires, drones, clothing, watches, backpacks, and cosmetics, among other items, were also found.

All seized material will be sent to Federal Revenue Service warehouses, where it will remain until legal proceedings are completed. Cigarettes and drugs must be incinerated; vehicles, depending on the situation, may be auctioned, donated to charitable organizations, or incorporated into public assets. Most of the other products will be donated to philanthropic institutions.
