Teams from the Federal Revenue Service, the Federal Highway Police, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) and the Mato Grosso do Sul Military Police seized 3 tons of counterfeit goods in an operation carried out in Corumbá, on the border with Bolivia, on Saturday (5).

Among the irregular products found during the inspection were smuggled foodstuffs and counterfeit clothes from famous brands, according to the Revenue Department.

According to the agency, six clandestine buses were transporting the items and were stopped as they traveled along the BR-262 highway. Three of them were detained because they were traveling without a passenger transport permit.

A 31-year-old Bolivian woman, whose identity has not been revealed, was arrested in the operation for transporting 13 kilos of a substance similar to ‘skunk’, a drug derived from cannabis and which gives rise to marijuana, also known as ‘supermaconha’.

The drug was found with the help of a sniffer dog and was to be taken to the state of São Paulo. The woman was arrested and sent to the Federal Police.
