PRE Seizes Shipment of 295 Imported Perfumes Without Invoices in Peabiru; Estimated Loss Is R$ 25,000

The merchandise was found in a pickup truck that was stopped on PR-317; the driver admitted that the products were purchased in Paraguay and lacked tax documentation.
The State Highway Patrol (PRE) seized a large quantity of goods without tax documentation in the municipality of Peabiru over the weekend. The cargo, valued at approximately R$25,000, consisted exclusively of imported perfumes from Arab and French brands.
The stop took place at a police checkpoint located on Highway PR-317. Officers were monitoring traffic when they ordered a VW Amarok pickup truck with license plates from Mandaguari to pull over. During the vehicle inspection, the officers found several bags and boxes scattered throughout the cab and bed—all crammed with perfume bottles.
When asked about the origin of the products, the driver stated that the merchandise had been purchased in Paraguay and admitted to not having any tax documents to support the transport. In total, 295 bottles were counted.
After consulting with the Federal Police, the PRE was instructed to identify those responsible and release the occupants at the scene of the stop. All the seized merchandise and the vehicle used for transport were sent to the Federal Revenue Service office in Maringá.
According to the agency, the person responsible for the cargo will face charges for the crime of smuggling while remaining free.
