Car is approached on BR-282 highway and police discover nearly 7,000 contraband items in SC

Two young women were apprehended with foreign merchandise in their car.

Two Argentine women, aged 20 and 21, were arrested for transporting 6,930 packs of cigarettes in a Fiat Uno on the BR-282 highway in Vargeão, in western Santa Catarina. The products were of foreign origin, and they were arrested for smuggling on Sunday morning (10).


A tip alerted the Civil Police teams, through SAER-FRON, and the Federal Highway Police (PRF) about a vehicle that was allegedly transporting illegal materials. As soon as the tip was received, the teams began searches in the border region.


Near the access interchange to the municipality of Vargeão, the SAER-FRON team located and approached the suspicious car. Two young Argentine women were in the vehicle.


During the inspection, the agents confirmed that the suspects were transporting 6,930 packs of foreign cigarettes, in addition to the vehicle used in the crime, which constituted the crime of smuggling.


The two women were arrested in flagrante delicto and taken, along with the seized material, to the Federal Police Station in Chapecó, where the appropriate procedures were adopted.
