A shipment of foreign goods, valued at R$498,000, was seized on the Raposo Tavares Highway (SP-270) in Presidente Venceslau (SP) on Monday (28). In Santo Anastácio, police seized nearly 300 e-cigarettes.

According to the Highway Patrol, the seizure took place around 12:45 p.m. at kilometer 617 of the highway during Operation Impact.

According to the police, officers received a tip that a car with Paraná license plates had driven past the Operational Base acting suspiciously and continued eastbound.

The officers located the vehicle nearby, inside a gas station, and conducted a search.

In the trunk and on the back seat, they found 81 bottles of perfume and various cosmetics, as well as 903 electronic devices.

Among the electronics were digital watches, laptops, cell phones, headphones, hard drives, routers, power supplies, modems, adapters, and cables.

According to the Highway Patrol, the entire shipment lacked tax documentation and had an estimated value of R$498,000.

While checking the driver’s background, the officers also discovered that he had a prior record for smuggling and that his National Driver’s License (CNH) had been suspended by order of the 1st Federal Court of Ponta Porã (MS).

The case was filed with the Federal Revenue Service in Presidente Prudente (SP), where a seizure report for the vehicle and the goods was drawn up. The goods remain seized.
