Counterfeit beverage factory discovered by São Paulo police

An operation by the São Paulo Civil Police dismantled, this Wednesday (28), a counterfeit alcoholic beverage ring. The group operated in Atibaia, in the Bragança Paulista region, in the interior of SP. The action was carried out by police officers from the State Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic).


Five men were caught red-handed operating a production line that reproduced popular brands of whiskey and cachaça.


The investigations pointed to the sale of adulterated products in various commercial establishments and at events. "The main concern is the possibility of uncontrolled production causing harm to the health of consumers of the products," one of the investigators emphasized.


There were seven search and seizure warrants that led to the center of the operation: an industrial warehouse located on Avenida Prefeito Antônio Júlio Toledo Garcia Lopes, in Jardim Imperial, in Atibaia.


At the scene, police found the factory fully operational, with machinery and a large quantity of materials required to produce the counterfeit beverages. All the materials were seized and will be subjected to forensic analysis of the products and inputs used.


The five people involved were charged with crimes against public health, consumer relations and criminal association.
