A truck carrying counterfeit shoes was seized on Monday morning (31) during a joint operation by the Federal Revenue (RFB) and the Federal Highway Police (PRF). The vehicle was stopped at a PRF checkpoint on BR-222 during a routine operation to combat smuggling, embezzlement, and piracy.

The cargo was inspected by officials from the Federal Revenue Service’s Enforcement Division of the 3rd Fiscal Region (Direp03) and by federal highway patrol officers. Inside the vehicle, packages containing shoes from international brands were found.

According to the Federal Revenue, a preliminary analysis revealed evidence of counterfeiting, including unauthorized reproduction of registered trademarks and a lack of documentation proving authenticity.

The tax documentation also contained inconsistencies. The invoices contained generic descriptions without product details, which prevented the correct identification of the cargo and verification of its lawful origin.

The merchandise was seized by the Federal Revenue Service for the appropriate legal proceedings.
