Last Saturday (5), the Military Highway Police (PMRv) seized 3,000 pairs of smuggled sneakers during an operation at km 515 of the MGC-135, in Buenópolis, in the central region of Minas Gerais. Two bus drivers were arrested - one of them did not have a driver's license.

The approach took place during an inspection to curb crimes of smuggling and embezzlement. According to the PMRv, officers caught the drivers swapping hands at the time of the approach, a maneuver that would have occurred because one of them had already been fined for smuggling contraband.

Although the bus was only carrying three passengers, dozens of boxes of sneakers without receipts were found in the luggage compartment. The drivers told the police that they had left Nova Serrana, in the Midwest region of Minas Gerais, and were heading for Ceará, but claimed to have been robbed along the way.

The Federal Revenue Service was called in and all the cargo was seized. The two suspects were taken to the Civil Police station for the appropriate measures.
