Federal Revenue seizes BRL 500,000 in smuggled goods on BR-163

In the early hours of Wednesday morning (17), the Federal Revenue Service seized six vehicles on the BR-163 highway in Nova Alvorada do Sul carrying a large quantity of goods smuggled from Paraguay, valued at around BRL 500,000.

The goods included cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, make-up and electronics such as smartwatches (watches with some accessory functions for smartphones).

Revenue Enforcement teams in Campo Grande approached the vehicles near the junction in Nova Alvorada do Sul, which gives access to the state of São Paulo.

Of the six cars, four fled the scene, but were intercepted further on by the inspection teams. The region is a strategic point for the smuggling and dumping of goods.

Vehicles and smuggled goods were taken to the Federal Revenue Service's seized goods depot in Campo Grande to be processed.
