Highway Patrol Seizes Contraband Perfumes Valued at Over R$53,000

Police officers from the Highway Military Police Battalion (BPMRv), based at the Maracaju Operational Base, seized foreign goods during an inspection conducted on Monday morning (16) on Highway MS-162, in the municipality of Maracaju.

The team was conducting a traffic inspection focused on combating cross-border crimes when they stopped a VW Voyage vehicle with license plates from Brasília (DF).

During an inspection of the vehicle’s interior, the officers found 52 boxes of perfumes of various brands and a package containing hookah liquid, all of foreign origin and without tax documentation.

When questioned, the driver stated that he had purchased the products in Paraguay and was transporting them to Campo Grande, MS, in exchange for payment for the freight.

After contacting the Federal Police in Dourados, the team was instructed to forward the vehicle and the goods to the Federal Revenue Service, by appointment, and the driver was released after signing a custody agreement.

The goods were valued at R$ 53,500.00, while the vehicle was estimated at R$ 30,000.00, resulting in a total loss from the crime of approximately R$ 83,500.00. (With information from the Media Relations Office – BPMRv/PMMS)
