The Civil Police of Rio Grande do Sul, through the Consumer Rights Protection Police Station (DECON), carried out an operation in Brusque on Tuesday (26) that resulted in the seizure of more than 45,000 pieces of counterfeit clothing. The action is part of "Operation Nemesis", which aims to combat criminal organizations linked to the production and sale of counterfeit products.

The operation was supported by DECON of Santa Catarina, DIC of Brusque, CECOP/SC (State Council for Combating Piracy), the SC Finance Department, and PROCON of Brusque.

Factory supplied scheme already under investigation

During the investigations, agents identified a clandestine factory in Brusque that supplied one of the targets already arrested in flagrante delicto in an earlier phase of the operation. The new action dismantled the site and seized counterfeit clothing with an estimated value of more than R$ 2 million.

The clothes had counterfeit brands and labels, constituting a crime against intellectual property and consumer relations.

Two suspects will be held accountable

The police identified two men directly involved in the factory's operation. They will be charged with crimes such as ideological falsehood, tax violations, and consumer relations violations.

"Operation Nemesis" is ongoing and focuses on dismantling criminal organizations involved in the manufacture, distribution, and sale of counterfeit products—a practice that not only violates the law but also endangers public health and distorts free competition in the market.
