Tax authorities seize R$ 130,000 worth of non-compliant products at a market

An operation by the Federal Revenue Service carried out this week resulted in the seizure of R$ 130,000 worth of illegal goods in Feira de Santana. In all, 144 packages were seized in the city during the inspection.
Among the seized products are cell phones, exercise bikes, an electric bicycle, watches, smartwatches, cell phone accessories, and medications such as tirzepatide and retratutide—substances used in treatments for diabetes and weight loss, commonly known as “weight-loss pens.”
The inspections took place at shipping companies and distribution centers for online sales platforms. The operation was also carried out in Salvador, Simões Filho, and Vitória da Conquista, resulting in a total of 659 packages seized throughout Bahia, with an estimated value exceeding R$ 770,000.
In the capital of Bahia, where the bulk of the operation took place, approximately 500 packages were seized, valued at roughly R$ 600 mil. Drones, cameras, and e-cigarettes were also found.
According to the Federal Revenue Service, the operation is part of the schedule of activities related to National Anti-Smuggling Day, celebrated this Tuesday (3), and aims to curb the entry and circulation of goods imported illegally—without the payment of taxes and without the technical and health certifications required by Brazilian law. The agency did not specify whether any fines were issued or companies held accountable.
