The Federal Highway Police (PRF) arrests two people for smuggling, trafficking, and crimes against public health; a large quantity of illicit goods is seized

On Wednesday afternoon (the 23rd), the Federal Highway Police (PRF) arrested two men on charges of smuggling, trafficking, and endangering public health. During the operation, officers seized hundreds of illicit products. The incident occurred at km 214 of BR-364 in Rondonópolis (MT).



According to information provided by the police, a team was conducting a tactical patrol on the aforementioned stretch of road when they spotted two vehicles exiting a dirt road used to bypass the PRF operational unit in Rondonópolis.


Suspecting that a crime might be taking place at the scene, the officers stopped the vehicles. During the initial questioning, the drivers stated that they were coming from Ponta Porã (MS) and were using the rural road to avoid the PRF unit because they feared losing the merchandise.


According to the police, the individuals stopped said they were merely transporting the goods and that each would receive R$ 2,500.00, in addition to expenses.


They also reported that all the goods belonged to the same person from Cuiabá (MT). Initially, they claimed to be transporting only perfumes, but during a preliminary inspection, electronic devices and anabolic steroids were found.



In light of the facts, the team escorted the vehicles to the operational unit for a more thorough search and to take inventory of the merchandise. After establishing, in principle, that crimes of smuggling, illegal trafficking, and endangering public health had been committed, the agents arrested the suspects.


The detainees were taken to the Federal Police Station, where they were processed for formal charges. In total, 1,367 bottles of imported perfume, 550 vials of anabolic steroids, 48 units of hyaluronic acid, and various electronic devices were seized.
