A shipment of counterfeit shoes, valued at approximately R$ 70,000, was seized by the Federal Revenue on Monday morning (30) during an inspection on the BR-174 highway in Boa Vista. No one was arrested.
In all, 61 shipments of goods were seized after agents identified signs of counterfeiting and irregularities in the tax documentation. The operation was carried out by Customs Surveillance and Enforcement teams who stopped a truck parked at a gas station.
According to the Federal Revenue, the inspection was prompted by a risk analysis conducted by the intelligence unit, which identified inconsistencies in the shipment. During the inspection, discrepancies were also found in the information provided in the documents.
Retention orders were issued so that the cargo could undergo a detailed inspection and the appropriate administrative measures could be taken.
The vehicle and the driver were released after the stop. The goods, however, were sent to the Federal Revenue Service warehouse, where they will remain in custody until the legal proceedings are concluded and liability is determined.
Combating Illegal Markets
The Federal Revenue Service emphasized that the action strengthens efforts to combat illegal trade and protect the economy.
