Truck driver arrested with contraband cargo valued at R$ 6 million

A truck driver was arrested this weekend after being caught by Garras (Specialized Police Station for the Suppression of Bank Robbery, Assault, and Kidnapping) transporting a contraband cargo valued at approximately R$ 6 million.


The arrest took place on Saturday (9) during an inspection of side roads and clandestine routes used by smugglers. The driver, who was driving a VW truck, gave conflicting accounts about the cargo.


During the inspection, police found 46 bales of electronic cigarettes — Vape and Pode models —, a bale of camera batteries, 21 bales of various products such as glasses, jackets, batteries, and other items, as well as a load of agricultural fertilizers.


The vehicle, valued at R$ 700,000, was also seized. According to the driver, the goods were to be distributed in cities in the interior of São Paulo, in the Lins region.
