PRF seizes truck with goods from China in southwest Bahia

A trunk truck with an illegal shipment of products of foreign origin was seized this Friday morning (9) by federal highway police officers during an activity in Jequié, Bahia.

The seizure happened around 11 AM, when the order to stop the truck trunk was given. It was being driven by a 47-year-old man.

In the fiscalization and inspection of the cargo compartment were found thermal glasses, perfumes, headphones, mobile phone holders and shoes of internationally known brands.

According to the PRF, the products were counterfeited. The driver said that the cargo was shipped from Sao Paulo and would be taken to the informal market in Feira de Santana.

During the approach it was found that the products were unaccompanied by the proper tax documentation, which constitutes a tax crime and industrial property. Under the circumstances, all the seized material and the people involved were presented at the Civil Police Police Station for the legal procedures and responsibilities.

Provided for in art. 334 of the Penal Code, the crime of smuggling, which is the act of evading, in whole or in part, the payment of duty or tax due for the entry, exit or consumption of goods, represents an unfair competition with the traders regularly installed and reduces the jobs with work card signed in the country, so that the PRF strictly curbs this criminal practice.
