The Brazilian Industrial Property Law (LPI) marks its 30th anniversary on May 14, a significant milestone for the consolidation of industrial property in Brazil. Over this period, important progress has been made in the protection of trademarks and patents, with increased legal certainty and greater international convergence.
At the same time, the current landscape reveals significant challenges, particularly regarding the effectiveness of enforcement in the face of an exponential increase in counterfeiting.
In this material, we highlight key aspects related to the progress and limitations of the LPI over these three decades of existence.
