Merchants sold magnifying glasses as if they were eyeglasses in pharmacies, stores, and restaurants along the highways.

An operation by the Paranaíba Health Surveillance Agency seized more than 1,300 fake glasses — the famous magnifying glasses — in eight establishments in Paranaíba, 393 kilometers from Campo Grande, on Friday (27).

According to the Midiamax newspaper, eight establishments, including pharmacies, variety stores, and restaurants along highways, were inspected. As a result, health inspectors seized 1,342 magnifying glasses.

It is worth noting that merchants sell the glasses as if they were magnifying glasses. Because they are shaped like glasses, their sale misleads consumers, putting their eye health at risk. The sale of prescription glasses without a prescription is prohibited.
