Police seize contraband perfumes on the MS-276 highway

A team from the PMR (Military Highway Police), from the Nova Andradina Operational Base, seized foreign goods during a traffic inspection and crime prevention operation on the MS-276 highway, at km 158, on the morning of Monday, February 9.
During the inspection of a van-type cargo vehicle, the police officers found several sealed boxes in the cargo compartment. When questioned, the driver presented tax documentation relating to the transport of air freshener refills. However, due to inconsistencies between the description, quantity, and value reported, the goods were checked.
Upon opening one of the boxes, the team found that the material being transported was foreign-made perfume, without legal proof of importation, constituting the crime of smuggling.
In total, 14 boxes of perfumes were seized, valued at approximately R$ 55,000.00. In accordance with operational procedures, the goods remained seized for subsequent referral to the Federal Revenue Service, while the vehicle and driver were released on site.
